Virginia Geiger
Lewisberry - Virgina (Ginny) Geiger, age 95, passed peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones. She was preceded in death by husband Gene, parents Beatrice and Earl, and sister Betty. Her memory lives in her surviving family members including son Gregg (Kellie), daughter Amy (Mellissa), six grandchildren, (Erik, Kelsey, Haley, Hannah, Avery, and Dillon), two great-grandchildren (Lyla and Ivy), sister Diane, as well as nieces and nephews. She was so very proud of her family.
Ginny lived much of her life in Pennsylvania as she was born in Bellefonte, attended high school in State College, graduated from Penn State, raised her family in the Pittsburgh area, and enjoyed the quiet of central PA in the latter part of her life. She loved to travel with her kids on car trips all around the US, to Europe just out of college, and worldwide with Gene, in retirement. While raising her family, Ginny returned to school to earn her master's and taught, for many years, in the local public school district. All that simply served as the backdrop for what made Ginny special and so memorable to her family and friends. She cared deeply for her family and supported their every endeavor with kind words of encouragement and by expressing her certainty of success. Ginny was funny with some of the driest, most-subtle humor to be found and always delivered sly remarks with a beautiful twinkle in her eyes. She offered little up-beat ditties, often randomly, that we all sing in our heads and hearts on a daily basis. She was the one we confided in because we knew that she would listen and offer wisdom from her heart. In those ways, our lives are fuller because of Ginny, but much emptier with her passing.
Ginny will be cremated and laid to rest next to Gene in Jefferson Memorial Park in Pleasant Hills, PA. As you remember Ginny, consider sharing love, understanding, and humor with your family and friends.
We already miss you, Ginny.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf, Pennsylvania
